Texas Legends Slide Past Austin Spurs

Cedar Park, TX - The Austin Spurs fell to the Texas Legends 112-103 at the SWBC Court at Cedar Park Center Friday night.

Bryce Cotton (21 points) and Josh Davis (12 points, 12 rebounds) led the Austin Spurs. Legends Damion James (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Justin Jackson (20 points, 14 rebounds) paved the way for Texas.

Texas had a fast start, creating an 18-8 advantage at the five-minute mark in the first quarter. Austin fought back behind Davis' four points and four rebounds in the period. Texas ended the first ahead 21-19.

Austin came out strong in the second with guard Orlando Johnson contributing seven early points to knot the score at 28. Austin took the lead, hitting six three-point field goals in the period. The Austin Spurs went into halftime up 53-50.

The Austin Spurs continued to hold onto a slight lead in the third quarter. Austin's Simmons and Cotton combined for three three-point plays in the period, while James added eight points and three rebounds in the period to keep Texas in the game. Austin went into the fourth with a 77-73 advantage.

Both teams exchanged baskets in the fourth, but a Texas four-point play from Booker Woodfox would give the Legends the lead that they would not give up.

The Austin Spurs (11-5) travel to Rio Grande Valley to face the Vipers Saturday, January 3rd at 7:00pm. The Legends (11-6) host the OKC Blue Saturday, January 3rd at 7:00pm.
