South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, have signed forward Jack Downing, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.
Downing, 25, finished fourth on the Stingrays with 25 points (16 goals, nine assists) in 43 games last season and stood second on the team with 10 power-play points (six goals, four assists). The New Canaan, Connecticut, native also earned a 17-game promotion to the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Providence Bruins and Iowa Wild adding no points and four penalty minutes.
"We are excited to get him back," said Carbery. "He is familiar with Charleston and with the organization and we are going to lean on him heavily while he is here. He's going to a big part of our leadership and showing our young guys the ways things are done here and at the pro level. He's got an NHL shot and can score from basically anywhere."

"I'm excited to come back," exclaimed Downing. "There is no place I'd rather be. I loved it last year and I'm really excited to start the season there and really feel like a member of the club. The goal is to win with the Stingrays right off the bat."
