UNCASVILLE, Conn. (August 1, 2014) - The Connecticut Sun announced today that it has waived Briana Gilbreath-Butler to make room on the roster for Danielle McCray, who will be activated for the game tonight at San Antonio against the Stars.
McCray missed 14 games after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in her right thumb on June 26th. The injury was suffered in practice. Before the injury, the third-year guard out of Kansas had been working her way back into form after missing all of 2013 with a torn left Achilles tendon. In 11 games this season, she was 8 of 31 from the field with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Originally signed to a seven-day contract back on July 7th, Gilbreath-Butler appeared in six games, playing a total of 36 minutes. She had five rebounds and two points.
