
Steve Nyisztor's Contract Purchased by Arizona Diamondbacks

(Ramapo, N.Y.) - The Rockland Boulders announced today that infielder Steve Nyisztor's contract has been purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. The Toms River, NJ native will report immediately to the Hillsboro Hops of the Northwest League, the Diamondbacks short-season Single A affiliate.
"While we are disappointed that Steve is leaving, we are thrilled for him" said Boulders Team President, Ken Lehner. "Steve is truly a quality person and a tireless worker. I think I speak on behalf of all of our fans as we wish him luck on the beginning of his journey to the big leagues."
In just his second year of professional baseball, Nyisztor, who has played in each of the Boulders 40 home games in 2014, departs the Can-Am League with the circuit's third best batting average at .341. He was also named Can-Am League Player of the Week ending May 25th His 56 hits leads the Boulders and he is tied for 2nd in the league with 12 doubles. In his rookie campaign in 2013, Nyisztor hit .257 with three home runs, 9 doubles, and ten stolen bases. The Boulders signed Nyisztor from Rutgers University, where he was voted a Freshman All-American and an All-Big East player in 2010.
The 23-year old becomes the fourth Boulders player to reach the affiliated ranks; following Chris Edmondson ('13) with the Braves, Jonathan Velasquez ('11, '12) with the Mets and Bridger Hunt ('11) with the Padres.
