
Walleye Ink Former NHL Goaltender Hannu Toivonen

(Toledo, OH) - Goaltender Hannu Toivonen (HAN-new, Toy-vo-nen) has agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. Toledo has also released emergency backup goaltender Matt Cooper.
Toivonen, a native of Kalvola, Finland, was drafted in the first round by Boston in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The 29 year old goaltender appeared in 61 games at the NHL level with Boston and St. Louis. In 2005-2006 with the Bruins, Toivonen posted a record of 9-5-4 with a 2.63 goals against average and a.914 save percentage. The 6'2", 208 pound goaltender has also skated in 209 career AHL games, with a career record of 96-82-15, a 2.50 GAA and .914 SVP. He was with Walleye affiliate Rockford in 2010-2011 posting a mark of 21-16-4, 2.90 GAA and .907 SVP.
