Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers got a strong pitching performance from Tyler Wagner with timely hitting from Tyrone Taylor and Mike Garza to defeat the Clinton LumberKings 8-2 Monday night at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Wagner earned his sixth win of the season while Taylor and Garza both knocked in three runs to lead Wisconsin to its second straight win.

Clinton (30-33) scored in the top of the first inning. Wagner walked the leadoff batter. A ground out moved that runner into scoring position. Guillermo Pimentel followed with an RBI single to put the LumberKings in front. But, they didn't stay in front for long.

Michael Reed singled to start the Wisconsin half of the first. Alfredo Rodriguez moved Reed into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Taylor was at the plate when Reed stole third base and scored on an errant throw. That tied the game 1-1.

The LumberKings went back into the lead in the top of the fourth. Marcus Littlewood doubled with one out to set the stage. Jordy Lara singled to left with two outs and Littlewood scored for a 2-1 lead. But, this Clinton lead didn't last long either.

Taylor, who was hit by a pitch in the first inning, was hit by a pitch to start the bottom of the fourth. There was one out when Adam Giacalone lined out to third. Taylor had strayed too far from the bag and there was a chance to double him off to end the inning. But, the throw to first was wild and Taylor took second base. Garza cashed in the opportunity for the Rattlers with an single to left to drive in Taylor with the tying run.

Wisconsin (26-33) took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Chris McFarland drew a walk and Michael Reed singled with one out to put two runners on base. Rodriguez was swinging away this time and singled to drive in McFarland for a 3-2 lead. Taylor, who was named the Midwest League's Player of the Week earlier in the day, was next and he singled to drive in Reed and the Rattlers led 4-2.

Wagner struck out six and scattered six hits over six innings to put himself in line for his sixth win of the season.

The Timber Rattlers offense secured that win for Wagner with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. McFarland singled, Reed walked, and Rodriguez singled to load the bases. That brought Taylor to the plate with the infield drawn in to cut down the runner at the plate. Taylor lined a single through the infield to drive in two runs for a 6-2 lead. Later in the inning, Garza smacked a two-out, two-run single for the 8-2 score.

Martin Viramontes pitched two scoreless innings and Jono Armold worked a 1-2-3 ninth out of the Wisconsin bullpen to finish off the LumberKings.

Wisconsin begins a road trip on Tuesday with a game in Beloit, Wisconsin against the Snappers. Damien Magnifico (5-1, 3.67) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Beloit has Raul Alcantara (7-1, 2.65) as their scheduled starter. Game time at Pohlman Field is 7:00pm. Tune in for the broadcast on AM1280 or timberrattlers.com starting with the Miller Lite Pregame Show at 6:40pm.
