York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution suffered their most lopsided loss of the season on a rain-soaked night, losing 9-0 to the Sugar Land Skeeters in eight innings in front of 4,385 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The Revs suffer a series sweep, falling to 17-17 on the season, embarking on a seven-game road trip that begins Friday night in Camden. Sugar Land wins its sixth straight improving to 28-5, owning professional baseball's best record.
The Skeeters took a first inning lead on a sacrifice fly to right field by Josh Pressley, before scoring four times in the second. Travis Scott led off the inning with a single to center, before a pair of walks loaded the bases with no outs. Dominic Ramos then hit a ground ball to second that went for an error, allowing the first run to score, picking up an RBI on the play. A bases loaded walk to Adam Godwin would follow, forcing home another run. Steve Moss later rolled a seeing-eye single into left to drive in one more, and Pressley capped the outburst with an RBI groundout to first base, making it a 5-0 game.
Michael Rockett drove a solo home run to left-center with one out in the top of the fifth, increasing the lead to 6-0, right before a 35-minute rain delay would halt the action. After the delay, the Skeeters added two more in the sixth on an RBI single up the middle by Chase Lambin, and another sac fly from Pressley, who drove in three runs for the second consecutive night. Ramos then homered to left field in the top of the seventh for the game's final run.
Offensively, the Revs were held to just one hit, as former York righty Michael Nix (4-0) earned the win, tossing five innings, including the bottom of the fifth after the first rain delay. Of Nix's 15 outs, 11 came on ground balls. Nix walked none and struck out three, allowing only a fourth inning single to Andres Perez, who extended his hitting streak to 11 games while celebrating his 29th birthday. It marked the fourth consecutive start in which Nix has not allowed a run, as his scoreless streak is now at 24.2 innings.
The game was called due to rain with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The three-game losing streak is just the second of the season for the Revs, who are swept for the first time all year.
York starter Chris Cody (3-2) suffered the loss, charged with five runs, three earned, in 1.2 innings. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the lefty.
York 's series opener in Camden is set for 7:05 p.m. on Friday night. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
