St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (May 23, 2013) - The St. Paul Saints offense gave pitcher Wes Roemer plenty to work with and they cruised to a victory in game one of a double header 9-1 on Thursday night at Sioux Falls Stadium.
The Saints got it going in the first when Dan Kaczrowski led off with a single. Joey Becker doubled him to third. Brad Boyer made it 1-0 with a sacrifice fly and Craig Brazell followed with an RBI ground out to make it 2-0 Saints.
The Canaries got their only run of the game in the second when Wes Roemer had a rare loss of command. He walked Tim Pahuta and Steve Domecus with one out and then gave up an RBI double to Jake Taylor that cut the Saints lead to 2-1. With runners at second and third and one out, Roemer worked out of the jam by striking out Chandler Laurent and getting Nick Van Stratten to foul out. Roemer went 5.1 innings allowing one run on two hits while walking four and striking out six.
The Saints tacked on two more runs in the fifth when Adam Frost led off by being hit by a pitch. Kaczrowski walked and Becker singled to load the bases. Boyer knocked home two with a single to give the Saints a 4-1 lead. Boyer finished the night 2-2 with three RBI and a run scored.
The Saints put the game away in the seventh when they scored five runs on an RBI single by Becker, who finished with three hits, a fielding error by second baseman Jake Taylor off the bat of Brazell, a sac fly from Willie Cabrera and a two-run double by Brandon Tripp.
