
Bad 9th inning leads to a Diablos loss 8-4

El Paso, TX- It was a hard fought battle from the Diablos, but in the end they come up short against the RedHawks losing the game 8-4, and the three game series 2-1.
Both teams exhibited great pitching right from the start of the game, Diablos starting pitcher Luis Chirinos was solid going 5.2 innings, only giving up three runs on six hits. The Diablos struggled offensively throughout the game only scoring one run through the first seven innings, thanks to a RBI single by center fielder Mitch Einerston.
The RedHawks had three straight one run innings in the fourth, fifth, and sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead going into the seventh inning. Relief pitcher Chandler Barnard was great going 2.0 innings, giving up zero runs, with four strikeouts. In the bottom of the eighth the Diablos scored one run, thanks to a RBI single from shortstop Maikol Gonzalez, to cut the RedHawks lead to one.
The ninth inning proved disastrous for the Diablos, giving up five runs, and a two run home run, giving the RedHawks a 8-2 lead. The Diablos kept fighting though making things interesting in the bottom of the ninth scoring two runs, and with the tying run on deck.
The Diablos now fall to 2-5 this season. The Diablos are now finished with their seven game home stand and start a six game road trip on May 21, playing a three game series with the Saint Paul Saints, then another three game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs ending on May 29.
