New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H.- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, are excited to introduce a new national program called Hats 4 Heroes (H4H), in partnership with the Operation Hat Trick (OHT) organization, for the 2013 season. The Fisher Cats are launching the new extension of the OHT program to Minor League Baseball teams in order to generate royalties to support the recovery, education, and future employment of wounded veterans and soldiers.
More than 60 minor league teams are offering similar team-branded caps in the first year of the new program. Available in the Team Store now, Fisher Cats fans can purchase their officially licensed Fisher Cats hats that support our American military veterans.
"We are proud to lead the way for minor league baseball teams to honor our veterans by participating in the Hats 4 Heroes program," said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. "Our team and our fans have tremendous respect and appreciation for the men and women of our Armed Forces, and this program allows us to support them in a new way."
The H4H/OHT program originated as an extension of the OHT program, which was born at the University of New Hampshire to memorialize Nate Hardy and Mike Koch, two U.S. Navy SEALs lost in Iraq in 2008. The original initiative was focused on producing collegiate hats that could be provided to soldiers that suffered head injuries. Since its humble beginnings, the OHT program has evolved into a national program with participation by more than 180 universities throughout the country and a new objective of raising funds for wounded soldiers and veterans.
"The primary objective for the OHT program moving forward is to build support and funds for our soldiers and veterans seeking medical treatment in VA medical centers," said Dot Sheehan, Founder and President of OHT. "We are excited that the Fisher Cats spearheaded the program in Minor League Baseball, and we believe that Fisher Cats fans will come out in support of our veterans by purchasing Fisher Cats/OHT co-branded hats."
OHT hats are produced under license by '47 Brand, one of the country's leading headwear manufacturers for Major League Baseball. In the initial product roll out, '47 Brand is offering various Fisher Cats/OHT hat styles, including adjustable camouflage and team color versions, and a stretch-fit style also in team color. The Fisher Cats hats are available for sale at the Team Store at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester and online at www.nhfishercats.com.
The Fisher Cats return to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium for a Memorial Day weekend series with the Binghamton Mets (New York Mets) on Friday, May 24. The series opener features a buy-one, get-one free ticket promotion and Atlas Fireworks, all presented by ENH Power. Tickets are available at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, by calling (603) 641-2005, and by visiting www.nhfishercats.com.
