PREVIEW: Following a split doubleheader on Sunday, the Shorebirds play their first of 25 meetings with the Lakewood BlueClaws this season. Nine of the Shorebirds next 17 games will be against the BlueClaws. The Shorebirds are in fourth place in the Northern Division, 4.5 games behind the Hagerstown Suns. The Shorebirds are 3-7 in their last ten games. In the last 19 games, the Shorebirds have won back-to-back games just one time (5/4 & 5/5).

BALOG PICKING UP HIS PLAY: Nik Balog went 5-for-7 in the doubleheader yesterday against the Suns including a 4-for-4 in game one. Balog's average jumped from .250 to .286 after his big day. The .286 average is the highest it has been all season long. The 24-year old has hit safely in six straight games, a season long.

MARIN IMPROVING: Adrian Marin watched his batting average dip to .192 on May 2. Since, he has hit safely in six of his last seven games to boost his average to .223. Marin went 5-for-9 in the last series against Hagerstown.

HOBGOOD'S SCORELESS STRETCH: Reliever Matt Hobgood has not allowed a run in his last ten innings over three straight outings. He has allowed just three hits during the span. Hobgood lowered his ERA to 0.79 with 2.2 innings yesterday. Amongst relievers in the SAL, Hobgood ranks fifth in lowest opponents batting average (.147).

6 RBI GAME FOR BOSS: Torsten Boss launched two home runs and drove in six in game one of the doubleheader yesterday. The last Shorebirds player to record six RBIs in a game was Kipp Schutz on April 10, 2011 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

3 GAMES BELOW .500: The Shorebirds have not been 3-games below .500 at any point this season. They are two-games below .500 for a third time this season.
