LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville's pink bats turned red-hot on a mild, sunny Mother's Day at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats (18-19) pushed across a season-high runs in a 12-2 drubbing of the Buffalo Bisons (22-13). The win was Louisville's first of the current four-game series between the two teams.

The offensive effort supported a gem on the mound from Bats starter Armando Galarraga (W, 2-1). In his longest outing of 2013 to date, Galarraga struck out six and didn't allow a run on five hits and no walks.

Henry Rodriguez led the way at the plate, going 3-5 with two doubles and five RBIs, the most RBIs by any single Bats hitter in a game this season. Sunday marked the sixth straight game in which Louisville has registered 10 or more hits as a team.

Billy Hamilton singled and stole his International League-leading 19th base in the bottom of the third inning. He came around to score on a Rodriguez single to give the Bats the first run of the game and the 1-0 lead.

Rodriguez would do it again for the Bats in the fifth when his double that scored Emmanuel Burriss and Nevin Ashley notched him his second and third RBIs of the afternoon to make it 3-0.

More Bats got in on the action when they batted around in the sixth. Felix Perez and Neftali Soto led off the inning with back-to-back base hits. Soto extended his hitting streak to seven with his single. In the following at-bat, Denis Phipps doubled to score Perez, and Kristopher Negron cleared the bases with a single to plate Soto and Phipps to make the Louisville lead 6-0.

Bisons starter Justin Germano (L, 4-2) left the game after the Negron single, and allowed seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and a walk with three strikeouts in his 5.1 innings.

Unfortunately for Buffalo, Louisville wasn't finished in the inning. A fielding error by Buffalo shortstop Ryan Goins allowed Nevin Ashley to reach and Negron to score, making it 7-0 Bats. After a Hamilton walk,Rodriguez continued his red-hot afternoon with another double that scored Ashley and Hamilton and made the score 9-0.

In the seventh, Burriss added insult to injury with a three-run blast to right. The homer was his first of the season and made the Louisville lead 12-0.

Buffalo's only runs of the game came in the final two innings. Eugenio Velez grounded out and scored Ryan Goins to make the score 12-1 in the eighth, and an Andy LaRoche triple set the table for a Ryan Langerhans RBI double that made the final score 12-2.

The Bats and the Bisons will wrap up their season series tomorrow evening at Louisville Slugger Field, and first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Greg Reynolds (3-0, 2.98) will go for Louisville against Buffalo's Claudio Vargas (3-2, 3.86).
