Today's Preview: The Intimidators (A, White Sox) play for a series win against the Tourists (A, Rockies) in today's finale of this 4-game series. Kannapolis last won a series April 8-10 at Delmarva when they took 2 of 3. Kannapolis is 6.5 games out of first place in the SAL Northern Division, sixth in the division. Asheville sits in fourth place, 1.5 games back in the Southern Division. Kannapolis send the team's hottest starter to the mound as Jake Cose faces Asheville's Shane Broyles at hitter-friendly McCormick Field. The Intimidators are 9-10 on the road while Asheville is 8-8 at home. This is the Intimidators only series against the Tourists in 2013.

Intimidating Starters: Jake Cose, 22, make his seventh start of the season and third on the road. He leads the Intimidators and ranks 11th in the league with a 2.14 ERA (8 ER/33.2 IP). Cose last allowed an earned run on April 23, and he has gave up just two unearned run in his last two starts, including 7.0 scoreless innings at Charleston on April 28. He has failed to get through the fifth inning just once this season, and has allowed one earned run or less in five of his six starts. Cose struck out a season-high eight batters over 6 2/3 innings in his most recent outing, a hard-luck loss to the Grasshoppers on May 6 in which he allowed two unearned runs on five hits. The White Sox selected Cose in the 27th round of the June 2011 draft out of San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) Junior College.

Twirling Tourist: Shane Broyles, 21, makes his seventh start of the season and third at home when he faces a White Sox affiliate for the first time. He is tied for fourth in the SAL with five home runs allowed. Opposing batters are batting a healthy .326 at home compared to .235 on the road. Broyles is coming off a loss at Augusta on May 6 in which he allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits in five innings. He is two starts removed from striking out a season-high eight batters, one shy of his career mark, set last season with Short- Season Tri-City against Salem-Keizer on July 12. The Texas Tech Red Raider went 2-2 with a 4.42 ERA in 23 games (five starts) in Lubbock in 2012 after two seasons at Seminole State College. The Rockies drafted him in the 14th round last June.

Micah on the Move: Leadoff man Micah Johnson put Kannapolis on the board with a 2-run single in the third inning before stealing second base for his Minor League-leading 32nd stolen base of the season. He then took off for third base but was thrown out, caught stealing for the fifth time in 2013. He is now 32 for 37 (.865) in attempting to steal. The Indiana Hoosier tripled Thursday, upping his league lead with five triples. He scored two runs Friday to increase his SAL lead with 30 runs scored. The White Sox ninth round pick in June 2012 hit . 273 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 69 games for the Advanced Rookie Great Falls Voyagers. He enters this season as the No. 25 Prospect in the White Sox system according to Baseball America.

Hot on the Corner: Michael Johnson has picked up the pace at the plate, taking advantage of more consistent playing time in his last five games. He has hit safely in five straight games since May 4, batting .500 (6-12) in that span. After not playing the entire Savannah series to open the month, he has appeared in every game since, spending his last three games played on third base. Johnson has played five different position this season, including first- and second-base, shortstop & left field.

About Last Night: The Tourists pounded out three home runs and ran wild with nine stolen bases in a 12-4 win over the Intimidators on Saturday. Asheville jumped ahead with a 5-run second inning, as Matt Wessinger drove in two runs on a base hit to left-center field, and Rosell Herrera launched a two-run home run against Intimidators starter Brandon Brennan. Eight of nine Tourists collected at least one hit, as Juan Ciriaco paced Asheville with a 3-4 night at the plate. Starter Jonathan Vargas worked 5.0 innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on three hits.
