Daytona Tortugas News Release
Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Cubs and Dunedin Blue Jays double-header scheduled for Saturday, May 11th has been canceled due to unplayable field conditions. Since the two teams are not scheduled to play each other again in the first half of the Florida State League season, the games will not be made up. Tickets for both Friday's and Saturday's games can be exchanged for any future 2013 Daytona Cubs regular season game.
The Cubs and Blue Jays were suspended in the third inning on Friday, and were scheduled to resume the game on Saturday, with a seven-inning game to follow, but two separate storm cells moved through Daytona just before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday which made the field unplayable.
The Cubs are scheduled to play a four-game series against the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Jackie Robinson Ballpark beginning on Monday, May 13th. Monday is Belly-Buster Monday which features all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, Papa John's pizza, and popcorn for only $11 which includes the game ticket. Tuesday is Silver Sluggers night, Wednesday is an Education Day with first pitch scheduled for 10:35 a.m. and Thursday is Thirsty Thursday featuring $1 small sodas and domestic draft beers.
Tickets can be purchased at daytonacubs.com, by calling (386) 257-3172 and by stopping by the Jackie Robinson Ballpark box office.
