Daytona Tortugas News Release

Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Cubs and Dunedin Blue Jays have been suspended in the bottom of the third inning due to a tremendous amount of rain that fell during a short period of time at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Friday evening.

Friday's game will be resumed on Saturday, May 11th at 5:00 p.m. in the bottom of the third with the same game situation, and will be played as a part of a double-header. The Cubs had a runner on third base with two outs and Javier Baez due up with the score tied 0-0 when the skies opened up. The resumption of Friday's game will be nine innings, and the second game will be seven innings.

Tickets for Friday's game can be redeemed on Saturday or at any other 2013 Regular Season Daytona Cubs game.

On Friday, Cubs starter Yeiper Castillo retired all nine batters he faced through the three innings, without a ball leaving the infield (seven groundouts & two strikeouts). Castillo has now pitched 18-consecutive scoreless innings for Daytona. Over his last 18 innings, Castillo has surrendered only five hits, while walking two and striking out 22.

A fireworks extravaganza will follow the second game of the double-header on Saturday. Daytona beat Dunedin 4-3 on Thursday night to open up the three-game series and seven-game homestand. Tickets can be purchased at daytonacubs.com, by calling (386) 257-3172 and by stopping by the Jackie Robinson Ballpark box office.
