Ft. Myers Outlasts Jupiter in 11-Inning Affair

JUPITER, Fla. - Four different Ft. Myers players had two hits in their 5-2 extra-inning win over Jupiter Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium.

After a 78-minute rain delay, the Miracle rallied with a run in the seventh to extend the game into extra innings. Three singles and two walks led to a three-run 11th inning, including a two-run hit by Eddie Rosario to break the tie.

Jupiter's leadoff man reached base in the 10th and 11th innings, but failed to score.

RHP Anthony DeSclafani pitched another gem, yielding just one run on three hits and a walk in 5.1 innings, striking out eight. Through seven starts, DeSclafani has allowed just three earned runs, striking out 29 and walking six in 31 innings.

Friday marked the first time all season that a Hammerheads starting pitcher was extended into the sixth inning.

LHP Greg Nappo and RHP Nick Wittgren struck out three batters each in relief, giving Jupiter 14 punch outs on the night. Five pitchers combined to hold Ft. Myers to a .181 batting clip (2- for-11) with runners in scoring position.

Isaac Galloway extended his multi-hit streak to four games with a single to right field in the second and a two-run bomb to left in the fourth. The Hammerheads' center fielder is batting .470 (8-for-17) in his last four contests.

Jupiter will try to avoid the sweep tomorrow night. RHP Jay Rogers (1-2, 2.49 ERA) will oppose Ft. Myers' RHP D.J. Baxendale (5-0, 1.49). First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
