
Gary Rallies Late to Top Evansville

(GARY, INDIANA) - A Ryan Kresky two run ninth inning home run handed Evansville a late lead, but Gary rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 9-6 win on Thursday afternoon.
The Otters trailed 1-0 until shortstop Taylor Black hit a towering game-tying home run to left field.
Evansville's bats came alive again in the fifth inning when the Otters mounted a two out rally. Outfielder Runey Davis reached on an infield single then scored on the go-ahead RBI triple from outfielder John Schultz. Black then added to the 2-1 lead with a run producing double to deep right field.
The Otters 3-1 lead held until the seventh inning when Gary surged for three runs to even up the score.
The RailCats took the advantage in the eighth inning only to see Otters re-gain the advantage on Kresky's two run home run.
Ahead 6-5, Evansville turned to their closer Eric Massingham but Gary rallied for the win in the bottom half of the inning.
Black finished 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI double. Catcher John Nester also hit a home run in the loss as well.
The Otters will be having an exhibition game that benefits Jacob's Village on Friday, May 10 against the Southern Illinois Miners . First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CDT at historic Bosse Field . Tickets are $4 for general admission or $6 for reserve seats. All ticket proceeds will go to local charity Jacob's Village. The Evansville Otters season starts on Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters . The year will feature 51 home games including seven scheduled doubleheaders at Historic Bosse Field.
