TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Traverse City Beach Bums selected two pitchers in the Frontier League draft, taking lefthanders Ian MacDougall in the first round and Clay Garner in the second round.

MacDougall pitched collegiately for Western Oregon University (GNAC - NCAA D-II). As a senior for the Wolves he went 2-3 with seven saves and a 3.06 ERA. In 17 games he pitched 32.1 innings, striking out 32 and walking just six. As a junior, he was an All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection going 3-0 in 18 games out of the bullpen with a 2.08 ERA. In 26.0 innings, he allowed just 16 hits and struck out 24.

Garner played his college ball at Georgia Perimeter College (NJCAA D-I) where in 2012 he went 8-2 with a 1.75 ERA. In 72.0 innings he whiffed 69 batters. In 2011, Garner went 9-1 with a 2.44 ERA for the Jaguars, and fanned 76 in 70.0 innings.

"We targeted these lefthanded pitchers immediately and we got them," said Beach Bums manager, Gregg Langbehn. "Both offer different styles of pitching, but showed ability to throw strikes with primary pitches."
