JUPITER, FL- LHP Kyle Hald pieced together a fantastic outing against the Mets Wednesday night at Roger Dean Stadium as Palm Beach defeated St. Lucie 1-0.

Hald threw seven innings of shutout baseball while striking out four, walking none, and giving up a mere three hits en route to his first win of the season. The 23-year-old lefty faced the minimum amount of batters (18) through the first six innings of play.

When asked what was working for him tonight he responded, "Spotting my changeup and getting ground ball outs, I felt comfortable out there, everything seemed to fall right into place."

In his previous start on April 5th vs. Charlotte, Hald threw only four innings and gave up 5 hits, receiving a no-decision on the night. "In that first start I took batters deep into those 3-0, 3-1 and 3-2 counts. Preventing that tonight really helped me out and definitely made a difference." said Hald.

The Cards first and only run of the game did not come until the fifth when James Ramsey (1-3, BB, R) was knocked in by second baseman Colin Walsh (1-3, RBI). Walsh entered the game in the top of the third, replacing RF Stephen Piscotty who was hit in the hand by a fastball. Piscotty was taken out of the game for precautionary reasons.

RHP Heath Wyatt earned his first save, throwing a perfect 8th and 9th while collecting one strikeout.

Third baseman Tyler Rahmatulla (1-3) broke out of his slump, notching his first hit of the season in the 7th.

Palm Beach and St. Lucie will play the rubber match of their series tomorrow night, 6:35 at Roger Dean Stadium.
