Hitmen Take a 3-1 Series Lead with a 3-2 OT Win over Red Deer

FIRST PERIOD

With Mathew Dumba in the sin bin serving a delay of game minor penalty, the Hitmen opened the scoring. Jake Virtanen pounced on a rebound to score his second goal of the playoffs, assisted by Greg Chase and Jaynen Rissling, at the 7:10 mark of the period... 1-0 Calgary.

The Hitmen doubled their lead when Brooks Macek brought in a rebound from an Elliot Peterson shot and beat Patrik Bartsak for his second goal of the playoffs. Victor Rask also assisted on the goal at the 13:00 mark... 2-0 Calgary.

SECOND PERIOD

The Rebels got onto the scoreboard with a powerplay goal of their own at the 2:32 mark. Dominik Volek showed great patience in outwaiting a Hitmen defender before going top shelf past Drieger for his second playoff goal. Haydn Fleury and Brooks Maxwell with the assists... 2-1 Calgary.

Red Deer scored on its third consecutive powerplay less than three minutes later. Conner Bleackley tipped home a Maxwell shot for his second goal of the playoffs. Volek also picked up an assist... game tied 2-2.

THIRD PERIOD

No scoring.

OVERTIME

Hitmen captain Cody Sylvester scored the game winner 5:10 into overtime. Sylvester pounced on a rebound from a Spencer Humphries shot to score his fourth goal of the playoffs. Jake Virtanen also assisted on the goal. Hitmen win 3-2.
