LOVELAND, Colo. - The Idaho Steelheads defeated the Colorado Eagles, 5-3, for their second win in as many nights at the Budweiser Events Center, to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Quarterfinals series. Game 5 -- the final game of the series scheduled for the BEC -- will be played Tuesday night.

The Steelheads out-shot the Eagles, 13-6, in the opening period and took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Their first goal came at 16:51 following a faceoff win in the right circle when Chase Schaber won the draw back to Tyler Gron who beat Adam Brown. Their second goal came at 18:37 when Adrian Foster swept home a rebound from the doorstep for a power-play tally.

Colorado dominated the second stanza, out-shooting Idaho, 13-5, and out-scoring them, 2-1. At 6:47, following extended pressure in the Steelheads' zone, Collin Bowman was able to get the Eagles on the board when his blast from the point was deflected past Tyler Beskorowany.

And just under two minutes later, Trent Daavettila lunged in the slot to push a puck to Kevin Ulanski in the left circle, where the latter snapped a shot past Bekorowany's glove to tie the game at 2. But Idaho was able to re-take the lead prior to heading into the second intermission when Austin Fyten fed Austin Smith with a pass into the paint from down low, allowing Smith to tap it past Brown at 18:39.

Colorado had its chances to even up the contest in the third period, but went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Idaho netted a pair of goals to make it 5-2 before a late empty-netter for the Eagles accounted for the game's final goal.

Schaber made it 4-2 at 10:27 when he put a Gron rebound past Brown from the right circle. And then Gron picked up his third point of the night with his second goal when he beat the Eagles' goalie from a similar spot at 17:21.

With Brown pulled for an extra attacker in the final two minutes, Colorado was able to control play in the offensive zone, and it paid off with 41.5 seconds left when Daavettila one-timed a shot home from the hashes.
