Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Steelheads were aware that scoring one goal per game would not be enough against Malcolm Subban's Belleville Bulls. Today, a hard-checking and defensively strong effort, goaltending and timely goal scoring earned Mississauga a well deserved Game 3 victory.

Identical to the previous two encounters, the Belleville Bulls scored first and early in the game. A slippery Tyler Graovac made his way to the front off the net on a Belleville cycle from the corner, before beating Tyson Teichmann at 3:36. Identical to last night's game, the Steelheads responded. Damian Bourne, who had missed the previous weeks due to an injury, paid instant benefits upon his return to the Mississauga lineup. He redirected a Stuart Percy shot from the top of the circle, through Subban's legs, with less than a minute remaining in the opening period.

The second frame gave Mississauga ample opportunities to lead for the first time in the series. The Steelheads had four man-advantage situations in the period alone, but could not solve the league's top penalty killing unit. Percy from the slot and Kristoff Kontos in close had Mississauga's best chances. Alan Quine tested Teichmann late in the period on a wrap-around, which the latter stopped with a toe save.

A third period highlighted with penalty killing efforts on behalf of the Steelheads saw Belleville press for the go-ahead goal. A Brett Foy blocked shot, Josh Burnside and Riley Brace forecheck while shorthanded frustrated the top team in the Eastern Conference. This frustration proved costly as Mississauga received their sixth man-advantage situation on a high sticking call in the defensive zone, with 2:20 remaining. Josh Burnside did not require further invitation to shock the Bulls, redirecting a Dylan DeMelo shot from the point through Subban's legs with 51 seconds remaining. Burnside did take a tripping penalty with seconds remaining, but time expired before any further pressure was placed on Teichmann. The Belleville native recorded 31 saves and his first career playoff victory.

Mississauga looks to equalize the series as they host Game 4 against the visiting Bulls on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Hershey Centre. Great seats are still available by calling (905) 502 - 7788, visiting the Hershey Centre Box Office, or logging on to Ticketmaster.
