Urbandale (IA) The Des Moines Buccaneers are proud to report that 2008-2009 forward Alex Chiasson has been called up to the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars. Chiasson is in his first full professional season, having played entirely with Dallas' American Hockey League affiliate in Austin, TX since late March 2012.

Chiasson, 22, has earned 32 point (12g, 20) in 53 games in the AHL. The Quebec native spent the last three seasons at Boston University and had a team best 46 points (15g, 31a) his final season with the Terrier before going pro after his junior campaign.. He was selected in the second round of the 2009 NHL draft by Dallas after spending one season with the Buccaneers.

In 2008-2009, Chiasson led the Buccaneers with 50 points (17g, 33a).

He becomes the 23rd Buccaneer alumni to reach the National Hockey League and will be one of nine who are currently active. Of the 23 Buccaneer alumni to achieve their dream of the NHL, 12 played for the Buccaneers from 2004-2009.

The Des Moines Buccaneers are in their 33rd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
