Indiana Ice Game Recap

March 21, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Indiana Ice News Release

Six minutes, 59 seconds.

That's all it took for the Youngstown Phantoms to establish their position in the matchup, robbing the Indiana Ice of three goals in the first seven minutes of regulation en route to a 5-1 win at the Covelli Centre.

Alex Talcott scored the lone goal for Indy while goaltender Anderson Snair recorded 20 saves between the pipes for the Ice. Defenseman Vince Pedrie was credited with the single assist on Talcott's sixth tally of the season.

Indy's offense put ample pressure on Youngstown netminder Sean Romeo in the opening period with eight shots in the first ten minutes of play. The effort was bested by the Phantoms' snipers as they powered three consecutive shots past Snair within a three-minute window to steal an early 3-0 lead.

The goal lamps went silent until Talcott's laser from the face off circle fired past Romeo to draw the Ice back within striking distance at 3-1.

Indy worked their momentum a bit, placing a few shots on net before a rash of penalties took their toll on the injury-riddled roster.

The Phantoms lit the lamp twice more within the last five minutes of the contest to seal the 5-1 score.

Hockey action continues Friday night as Indy and Youngstown face off in round two of this weekend's action from the Covelli Centre. The puck is set to drop at 7:15 pm.

Indy returns to Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday, April 6 against Team USA in game one of their final four-game homestand of the regular season. The contest is slated to begin at 7:05 pm.
