
Spirit Fall to Whalers on the Road

The Saginaw Spirit took on the Plymouth Whalers on Sunday afternoon, falling on the road 7 - 5.
The Western Conference rivals came out strong in the opening period; however the Spirit were able to advance first on a goal by Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross, his 43rd of the season, with the assist coming from Dylan Sadowy. The Whalers answered with a short-handed goal from Connor Sills, his 1st OHL career tally, assisted by Danny Vanderwiel. Eric Locke fired back to score on the power play for the Spirit, his 44th of the season, with the assists coming from Jason Shaw and Dalton Young. To close out the period, the Whalers scored on the power play, from Garrett Meurs, his 28th of the season, assisted by Stefan Noesen and Gianluca Curcuruto. The frame ended Saginaw 2 - Plymouth 2.
The second period opened up with an unassisted Plymouth goal, by Garrett Muers, his 29th of the season. Former Saginaw Spirit Captain, Vince Trocheck scored a power play goal, his 48th of the season, assisted by Sebastian Uvira and Stefan Noesen. The Spirit fired back on the power play to score a goal by Dalton Young, his 5th of the season, with the assists coming from Jimmy Lodge and Garret Ross. The period ended Plymouth 4 - Saginaw 3.
The Spirit and the Whalers came out with a solid effort in the third; however the Whalers scored first by Garrett Meurs, who gained a hat trick for the night and his 30th of the season, with the assists coming from Mitchell Heard and Matthew Mistele. The Spirit fired back with an unassisted goal by Dalton Young, his 6th of the season. Justin Kea followed with a solid finishing goal, his 22nd of the season, assisted by Jeremiah Addison and Nick Moutrey. Plymouth would then add two more goals to their score before the frame ended. The next tally was scored by Mitchell Heard, his 13th of the season, with the assists coming from Garrett Meurs and Austin Levi. Then, Sebastian Uvira scored an unassisted goal, his 8th of the season. The game ended Plymouth 7 - Saginaw 5, with the shots on goal Plymouth 39 - Saginaw 28.

Prices for the first round of playoffs remain the same as regular season prices. If the Spirit play the London Knights in round 1, home game 1 will be Tuesday, March 26th at 7:11pm and home game 2 will be Thursday, March 28th at 7:11pm.
