Omaha Beef Announce Player Signing

Ralston, NE - The OMAHA BEEF are proud to announce the signing of Defensive End Byron Wilson Jr.

Wilson Jr. (6'4, 272) comes back to Omaha after playing for the Beef in 2011 as well as the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks in 2010. Wilson who played in ten games, over two seasons, for the Beef and accumulated 22 tackles, three sacks and two pass breakups. Wilson Jr. has also attended mini-camp with the Washington Redskins and has spent time with the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons.

Wilson Jr. also comes to the Beef after a standout collegiate career at Alabama A&M University. As a Bulldog, Wilson was named America's top Historical Black College and University (HBCU) player in 2009. In addition, as a senior he was given Alabama A&M's Iron Dawg Award which recognizes strength and conditioning. Wilson Jr. played two seasons as a defensive end/linebacker and finished his collegiate career with 70 tackles, 15 sacks, 40 tackles for loss one touchdown, four fumble recoveries, and eight pass breakups.

"We are very happy to have Byron back in Omaha", said Beef Head Coach Andy Yost. "Byron has that special combination of size and speed that you don't see everyday at this level and we expect him to be a force on defense for us."

Coming out of high school in 2004 Wilson Jr. signed with Toledo but transferred to Erie Community College in 2005. At Erie, Wilson Jr. earned all-conference honors and a middle linebacker. Wilson is from Cleveland, Ohio.

The Beef have moved to the brand new, 3,500 seat Ralston Arena after playing the last 13 seasons at the 8,100 seat Omaha Civic Auditorium. Omaha will play a six regular season game in the new Champions Professional Indoor Football League, and will host geographical rivals like Sioux City, Kansas City and Lincoln.
