The excitement continued into the second, when the Otters took the lead with ten minutes left in the period, on a goal by J.P. Labardo, his 13th of the season, with assists coming from New York Islanders prospect, Adam Pelech and Connor Crisp. The Spirit were able to come back to tie the score, with a quick reaction from Jeremiah Addison, his 5th of the season, assisted by Nick Moutrey. The second frame ended with the score tied at 2.
As the offense increased in the third, so did the penalties making the rest of the game just as exciting as the first. The Spirit advanced quickly with two goals; the first off Captain Garret Ross' stick, his 22nd goal of the season, assisted by Nathan Glass, followed by a short - handed goal, from Eric Locke, his 26th of the season, with an assist coming from Garret Ross. The Otters closed out the scoring for the period on a tally by Dane Fox, his 6th of the season, with an assist from Connor Brown. The game ended Saginaw 4 - Erie 3, with the shots on goal Saginaw 45 - Erie 33.
