Generals Make It Four in a Row

November 30, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

Kingston, Ontario -The Generals made their first of four trips to the K-Rock Centre in Kingston, winning by the score of 4-2. Daniel Altshuller made the start for the Generals and picked up his 16th win of the season, putting him at the top for goaltender wins in the OHL. Boone Jenner continued his goal scoring streak, getting an easy one with the empty netter.

Oshawa continued their recent trend of scoring the game's first goal of the game, putting the puck in the net just 2:34 into the first period. Tyler Biggs backhanded a rebound past Kingston netminder Mike Morrison after a Geoffrey Schemitsch point shot to give Biggs his 15th of the season, and the Generals the 1-0 lead. At the 14:24 mark of the period, the lead was extended due to a Cole Cassels wrist-shot that found a way past Morrison, giving Oshawa the 2-0 lead.

Kingston began to pick up their play towards the end of the period, with Spencer Watson getting the best chance of the period. Driving hard to the net, he narrowly missed the net with a deflection, keeping the Generals' lead at 2-0.

Despite Kingston's strong end to the first period, it was the Generals starting the second off with a bang. Scott Laughton scored 0:27 seconds into the period for his 7th of the year, to give the Generals a 3-0 lead. Oshawa had complete control of the game as they got several chances on Morrison, but he stood tall, keeping the game close.

The game shifted momentum back and forth as both teams had penalty troubles leading to several chances both ways. Oshawa made adjustments on their second penalty-kill of the game, frustrating the Kingston shooters with blocked shots and aggressive play, causing turnovers.

The Frontenacs finally responded with a goal of their own 16:23 into the period. Spencer Watson rounded the circle in the offensive zone and beat Altshuller blocker side with a quick snapshot to make the score 3-1 for the Generals. The second period ended with the Generals outshooting Kingston 28-15.

Kingston added another at 8:52 in the third period, when Darcy Greenaway shovelled home a rebound past Altshuller sending the 3,705 in attendance into a frenzy. The Frotenacs used the momentum, keeping the Generals on the ropes, getting several close chances to tie the game at 3.

The Generals held on and put the game to bed as Boone Jenner extended his goal scoring streak to four games with his 26th of the season, tapping the puck into the empty net, sealing the victory.

The Generals outshot Kingston 37-25.

Tyler Biggs was the lone Generals star, picking up the second star selection of the night.

The Generals return home to the General Motors Centre on Sunday Dec. 2nd as they take on the Sarnia Sting. Puck drop is at 6:05pm.
