Eric Ming's goal in the sixth round of the shootout was the difference, as the Spitfires came up short in a 3-2 loss to the Rangers at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Friday night.

Ben Johnson (4) and Chris Marchese (7) had the goals for Windsor (10-12-1-5), which moved into sole possession of fourth place in the West Division and eighth in the Western Conference by earning a point.

Evan McEneny and Justin Bailey scored for Kitchener (17-8-1-1).

Bailey's goal made it 2-1 Rangers just 1:07 into the third period. But Marchese evened things up again just three minutes later, finishing off a nifty three-way passing play with Jordan Maletta and Josh Ho-Sang, who had the first assist on both Spitfire goals.

Marchese, Zack Lorentz and Kerby Rychel scored in the shootout for the Spits, while Radek Faksa, Bailey, Brent Pedersen and Ming had the Kitchener goals.

Jaroslav Pavelka made 38 saves in goal for the Spits. Franky Palezzese had 30.
