Huntsville Splits Two Games With Augusta

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc split a pair of games last week with the Augusta RiverHawks with each team winning on 4-0 shutouts.

Thursday, November 22 - Augusta 0, Huntsville 4

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Dan McWhinney made 46 saves to complete the shutout and led the Huntsville Havoc to a 4-0 win against the Augusta RiverHawks.

Huntsville was led by Corey Fulton, who registered one goal. Fulton scored 13:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Ray Ortiz picked up the assist.

The Havoc put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Augusta to score on any of its three power plays. Huntsville's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 13 shots on net during the game. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Havoc exceeded the 21.1 shots they average per game this year.

Huntsville additionally got points from Ortiz, who also had one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Bryant Doerrsam as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Brad Cooper and Shane Hart, who each chipped in one and Stuart Stefan and Aaron McGill, who contributed two a piece.

The RiverHawks put 46 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.7 they average per game.

Augusta was led by Chad Ziegler, who took six shots.

Huntsville totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. BJ OBrien rejected 28 shots on goal for the RiverHawks. Augusta ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.

Friday, November 23 - Augusta 4, Huntsville 0

HUNTSVILLE, AL - One night after being shutout, the Augusta RiverHawks returned the favor and shutout the Huntsville Havoc 4-0 on Friday night. It was the first win of the season for Augusta.

Chad Zeigler scored two goals for the RiverHawks while Jarrett Rush and William Lacasse both scored one each.

B.J. O'Brien recorded 40 saves for Augusta in the win while Dan McWhinney made 29 in the loss.

Huntsville outshot the RiverHawks 40-33 but couldn't get anything past O'Brien. Both teams had seven powerplay chances and Augusta scored on three.
