Harrisburg Earns First Win of SeasonNovember 25, 2012 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) - Harrisburg Heat
Harrisburg midfielder David Schofield opened the box score in the first quarter, controlling a ball off the wall with his chest for the top right shelf finish. It would only take the Heat 36 seconds to get their second goal of the game as defender Andrew Marshall received the ball with his back against the goal, making a quick turn and striking the ball with his left foot for the upper left corner goal. However, Ohio would respond by taking advantage of a miscommunication between Kern and the Heat's backline. Vortex forward Igor Ilabasec would steal the ball, miss a 25 yard shot, but it would bounce off the wall as forward Zachary Branca ran up for the header goal. With less than four minutes to go in the first quarter, the Heat backline would find wide open Seton Hall product Brad Kerstetter for the breakaway, sliding the ball just underneath goalkeeper Michael Mason's left side. Marshall would give the Heat a 5-1 lead going into the first intermission as he barely snuck a Brian Ombiji ball between two Vortex defenders for the goal.
In the second quarter, the Heat would keep up the intensity and excitement. Schofield sent a ball from the Heat's offensive yellow line to the far left post, bouncing off the wall and landing in Ombiji's feet for the finish. The Heat would go into halftime with a 6-1 lead.
Just two minutes into the second half, Heat defender Zachary Sell shot a ball, bouncing off the wall to forward Kent Ramirez for the tap in. Less than a minute later, Ombiji sent a cross to the middle of the Vortex key, redirecting off an Ohio defender for the own goal. Minutes later, Marshall played a ball from the left side behind three Vortex defenders, finding midfielder Tyler Witmer's feet for the goal. The Heat led 8-1 going into the 4th quarter.
David Miller made his first appearance of the game in the fourth quarter and made sure it was known. Miller received the ball on the far right side of the Vortex yellow line and took three touches with the outside of his left foot towards the middle of the field and finished with a left foot blast. With less than three minutes left, Witmer found a wide open Kenny Fultz behind the Vortex backline at the right post for the tap in goal. With thirty seconds left in the game, the Heat scored three goals (Schofield, Fultz, Witmer), winning the game 13-1, earning their first win of the season.
The win moves Harrisburg up to third place in the Eastern Division as Ohio moves down to fourth place the division.
The Heat's next home game is scheduled for 7:05pm Saturday, December, 8 at the Equine Arena of the Farm Show Complex against the Cincinnati Kings. For more information or questions regarding the Harrisburg Heat, contact the team at 717-657-7678, or visit www.harrisburgheat.com.
