Saginaw Spirit News Release

The Saginaw Spirit suited up in Windsor on Friday night, looking to pull ahead of their Conference rival Windsor Spitfires in the OHL standings. The Spits and the Spirit both went into the game tied in points.

After a great goaltending dual in the first period, Spitfire goalie Jaroslav Pavelka had a shutout first period, stopping all 17 Spirit shots on goal. Windsor got on the board first when Emerson Clark sent a bouncing puck past Spirit goalie Jake Paterson. Michael Clarke and Jordan Maletta recorded assists on Clarks' goal that gave Windsor a 1-0 lead to close out the first period.

The only goal of the second period came off the stick of Justin Kea, who banked one in assisted by former Spit Eric Locke to tie the game at one. The shots on goal were even for Saginaw and Windsor in the second period, 13-13.

The game winning goal was scored late in the third period. Converting his first goal in a Windsor uniform, Trevor Murphy sent one home assisted by Josh Ho-Sang and Zach Lorentz. Saginaw outshot Windsor in the game overall 44-38.
