Texas Stars News Release

HOUSTON, TX - Four different players scored goals as the Texas Stars beat the Houston Aeros 4-2 Sunday night at Toyota Center.

Just over one minute into the game Houston was called for too many men on the ice and it did not take long for the Stars to capitalize. Texas' leading scorer Cody Eakin took a long pass from Cam Barker, turned the corner on the Aeros defense and snapped a wrist shot low through the pads of goaltender Darcy Kuemper at 2:41. Eakin's power play goal was his team-leading sixth goal of the year and was assisted by Barker and goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp, tallying his first point in North America. Tomas Vincour doubled the Stars lead at 9:03 on a sizzling wrist shot into the top left corner of the net, assisted by Reilly Smith and Brenden Dillon. Kris Foucault put the Aeros on the board with a power play goal at 11:44, but Texas regained its two-goal lead at 15:34 when Travis Morin tipped a Jamie Oleksiak shot off the face mask of Kuemper and into the net; Morin's third goal of the season made it 3-1 stars.

The Aeros cut into the Texas lead in the second period on a goal by Jason Zucker at 11:50 of the middle period, assisted by Johan Larsson and Chay Genoway.

The Stars regained their two-goal cushion early in the third period as center Antoine Roussel jammed in a loose puck in the crease for an unassisted goal at 2:19; his second goal of the year. Houston had three power plays in the final frame, but the Texas penalty killers clamped down their defensive zone and held off the Aeros for the 4-2 win.

Texas starter Cristopher Nilstorp recorded his second win of the season, stopping 26-of-28 shots, while Houston goalie Darcy Kuemper made 21 saves on 25 shots in the loss. The Stars went 1-for-6 on the power play and were out-shot 28-25 by the Aeros, who finished 1-for-6 on the man-advantage.

The Texas Stars return to the ice on Thursday, November 15th as they host the San Antonio Rampage for Food Drive Night, a 7:30 pm faceoff at Cedar Park Center. Pro-rated full and partial 2012-13 season seat packages are on sale now. For more information on Texas Stars season tickets call (512) GO-STARS (467-8277) or visit www.TexasStarsHockey.com .
