Regina Pats News Release
First Period Momentum was in favor of the Pats early in the first period. After a scrum, Pats defenceman Tye Hand and the Hurricanes' Axel Blomqvist were both given minors for roughing at 13:54. Adam Rossignol was called for the home team's first penalty of the game at 11:24 of the first. The Pats successfully killed off the Rossignol penalty and allowed one shot on goal. Brady Ramsay took the Hurricanes' first penalty of the game at 7:50 for roughing. No teams capitalized on either of their powerplays. The Pats led in shots 8-4 at the end of the first period with the score deadlocked at zero.
Second Period Dyson Stevenson got the home team on the board first after a tip-in goal from Adam Brooks and Colten Mayor at 11:47 of the period. Just over two minutes after the Pats' first tally, the Canes' Harrison Harper took an unsportsmanlike penalty behind the play in the Pats' defensive zone. Lane Scheidl made good on the Pats' second powerplay of the game from Stevenson and Colby Williams with 9:02 to go in the frame. Stevenson got his second goal of the contest with 2:29 left in the period. His late tally came from Brooks and Mayor again. Stevenson's assist and two goals propelled the Blue and White to a 3-0 lead over the Hurricanes at the end of the rough second period.
Third Period Physicality continued to be the name of the game in the third. Both teams began the third period 4-on-4 with both the Pats' Mayor and the Canes' Ramsay in the box for coincidental slashing minors just prior to puck drop. Hurricanes defenseman Daniel Johnston received a checking from behind on Pats' Emil Sylvegard. Stevenson made Johnston pay for his penalty and capped off the hat-trick with another powerplay goal from Klimchuk and Sylvegard. Sylvegard was called for a penalty of his own at 10:18 for kneeing. The Pats remained perfect on the penalty kill and the score remained 4-0 in favor of the home team. Just as both teams were finally 5-on-5, the Blue and White's Tye Hand made a trip to the box for a tripping call with 6:46 to go in the third. Hand made it out of the box with no change in the score. Hewitt stopped all thirty-two shots he faced in the rough game and shutout the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Blue and White also went perfect on the penalty kill and poweplay, winning their third straight game at home.
