
Lincoln Shuts Down Storm 3-0

KEARNEY - The Lincoln Stars (9-0-0) kept their undefeated record intact Tuesday night, defeating the Tri-City Storm (3-6-1) 3-0 at the Viaero Event Center.
Tri-City goaltender Christian Frey made 36 saves in a losing effort for the Storm, but Lincoln's Jackson Teichroeb didn't let anything get past the goal line, finishing with a 31-save shutout.
The Stars got on the board late in the first period when Jimmy Devito scored the opening goal of the game at with 2:04 remaining in the frame. Max Humitz and Brent Wold picked up assists for Lincoln on the play.
The Storm held their own in the second and went toe-to-toe with the Stars, but couldn't get on the board in a scoreless middle period.
In the third, Tri-City had chances but couldn't beat Tiechroeb and get back into the game. Lincoln got their second goal from Vinni Lettieri to make the lead 2-0, and took a three-goal lead with under five minutes remaining when Dominik Shine scored his sixth goal of the season.
The Storm go back on the road this weekend for two more games. Friday night Tri-City will be in Cedar Rapids to take on the RoughRiders at 7:05 p.m. and then they'll travel to Sioux City for a Saturday night tilt with the Musketeers.
Tri-City's next home game will be against Sioux Falls on November 9, at the Viaero Event Center.
Notes: The Storm scratched forwards Grant Opperman, Tayler Munson, Jared Linnell, and Heikki Liedes along with defensemen Ryan Ivey and Johnny Hrabovsky.
