Wranglers Add Hard Slap Shot, Local Product to Lineup

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that defenseman Josh Godfrey and right wing Bryce Reddick have agreed to terms with the team for the 2012-13 season.

Godfrey, 24, made his ECHL debut in 2008-09 with the South Carolina Stingrays, collecting 68 points (25 goals, 43 assists) across three seasons with the team. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound defenseman has made appearances in the American Hockey League every season for the past five years, adding 15 points (2 goals, 13 assists) to his career tallies with the Hershey Bears and the Binghamton Senators. A second-round NHL draft pick by the Washington Capitals in 2007, Godfrey's 102.7 mph slap shot set a new league record at the 2011 ECHL All-Star Skills competition.

"Josh's offensive prowess is well documented, and I need him to come in here and be a force, and a leader, and take ownership of the power play," said Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel. "I saw a connection with the kid when I met him at the All-Star game, and want to get him where he wants to go with his career."

The blueliner started his hockey career in the Ontario Hockey League, and with 24 goals for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in 2006-07, Godfrey earned the league's Most Goals by a Defenseman award.

"I'm not coming [to Vegas] to simply to put up points and move myself along," said Godfrey. "I'm coming here to win and let all the other stuff take care of itself. I want to give the team and the fans an honest effort."

Reddick, 23, returns home to Las Vegas after four years (2008-12) at Michigan Tech, where he recorded 10 points (7 goals, 3 assists) in 74 games. The 5-foot-10, 181-pound right wing attended Green Valley High School for two years before playing two seasons (2006-08) with the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the British Columbia Hockey League, tallying 74 points (22 goals, 52 assists) in 110 games.

"Bryce is another local talent that I think the hockey community here should be proud of," said Mougenel. "I'm excited to have him start his pro career here."

Reddick comes from a strong hockey pedigree - his father is goaltender Elton "Pokey" Reddick, who played for the NHL's Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers in the late 80s and early 90s.

"This is home," said Reddick, "and I want to have a winning season as a team, and have all the success they had last year, in front of my friends and family."

The Wranglers face the Stockton Thunder in the team's home opening weekend on Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:05 p.m. The team's home preseason game against the Ontario Reign takes place on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7:05 p.m.
