
York Tops Somerset 8-5 in Game One of Doubleheader

York, PA - The York Revolution (37-25, 73-59) defeated the Somerset Patriots (28-34, 63-69) 8-5 in game one of the doubleheader from Sovereign Bank Stadium.
Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez spanked a solo home run (7) in the top of the first inning to give Somerset an early 1-0 lead.
The Revolution tied the game in the home half of the first inning as second baseman Andres Perez collected a RBI via a sacrifice fly to left field.
Center fielder Jonny Tucker poked a two RBI double down the right field line in the second inning to give Somerset 3-1 advantage.
York responded by taking the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Right fielder Jeff Fiorentino would score on a passed by ball Chase Wright, left fielder Brandon Haveman tallied a RBI via a fielder's choice and designated hitter Joe Thurston smacked a go ahead two RBI triple to give the Revolution a 5-3 lead.
Somerset cut the two run deficit in half in the top of the fifth inning as Derrick Gordon threw a wild pitch that plated right fielder Colin Curtis.
York tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth inning as shortstop David Espinosa hit a RBI single expanding the Revolution lead to 6-4.
York added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh inning as catcher Saloman Manriquez extended his hitting streak to 11 games by notching a RBI double to make the score 7-4.
The Revolution scratched across another run in the eighth as Fiorentino collected a RBI via a single to make the score 8-4.
Sanchez got a RBI via a sacrifice fly in the ninth to make the score 8-5 which would be the final.
Gordon earned his fifth win of the season. Wright suffered his third loss of the year.
Game two of the doubleheader will be at 6:30 p.m. Adam Champion (0-0, 6.00 ERA) will pitch for Somerset while Ryan Feierabend (7-5, 3.03 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Revolution.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Tuesday, September 18th when the Patriots return home to take on the Long Island Ducks at 7:05 p.m. The game features Bark in the Park Night with a chance for all fans to bring their dog to the ballpark.
