IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO - The Missoula Osprey received solid pitching from Ross Gerdeman and the bullpen and used a big day at the plate by a number of players to produce a 9-0 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars on Sunday here at Melaleuca Field in front of 1,414 fans.

The Osprey (16-12, 34-32) pulled to within a game of first place Billings in the Pioneer League North Division Standings. The Mustangs lost at Ogden on Sunday, 7-5.

Gerdeman (4-4) scattered five hits and a pair of walks while striking out six batters in picking up the win on the mound and spearheading the fifth shutout of the season for Missoula, one shy of the club record of six, set in the 2006 season. Chase Stevens and Mike Blake combined to allow three hits and a walk in the final three innings, striking out five combined batters to preserve the shutout.

The Osprey scored three runs off of the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Year, Chukar left-hander Sam Selman (5-3), to take a 3-0 lead after three innings. The Osprey scored twice without the beneft of a base hit in the top of the second - they used an error, three walks and a fielder's choice to take the 2-0 lead. Adam McConnell drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by a run-scoring fielder's choice by Pedro Ruiz.

Tyler Bream extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third when he homered to left off of Selman. The Osprey would add a run in the fifth on a Breland Almadova RBI single, a run in the top of the seventh on a run-scoring double by Michael Perez, one in the top of the eighth on a RBI single by Alex Glenn, then put it away with a three-run ninth, featuring RBI doubles by Perez, Almadova and Rudy Flores.

Perez had three hits and two RBIs to pace the Osprey 15-hit attack at the plate. Almadova added two hits and two RBIs, while Bream, Flores, Glenn, Ruiz and Evan Marzilli finished with two hits apiece for Missoula.

The Osprey will now have Monday off as they prepare for a two-game series against the Great Falls Voyagers at Ogren Park Allegiance Field, which begins on Tuesday at 7:05.
