BURLINGTON, Iowa - The Burlington Bees (65-64, 33-27) avoided a sweep at the hands of the Clinton LumberKings (61-67, 38-22) with a 4-to-1 win. Friday night's win gave the Bees a 3-4 record for the seven-game home stand, the second straight home stand to produce that record.

Aaron Shipman provided all of the offense for the Bees in game three. Shipman went 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, a run, and two RBIs.

The Bees scored three runs in the bottom of the third thanks to Shipman's clutch hitting. Wade Kirk- land led off with a walk and got to third base on a one-out double by Michael Fabiaschi. With two men in scoring position, Shipman served a base hit into shallow center field to plate Kirkland. The center fielder Jamal Austin overran the ball and failed to pick up the ball on the hop. The error allowed Fabi- aschi to score as well.

After Addison Russell walked, both he and Shipman stole a base to put two men in scoring position with one out for Bobby Crocker. Crocker hit a sacrifice fly ball to centerfield that brought in Shipman. The Bees led 3-to-0. They scored another run when Shipman shot a ball into deep-center for an RBI triple that scored Fabiaschi.

A.J. Cole (6-3) earned his sixth win after he pitched five scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Seth Frankoff earned the hold after three innings in which the right-hander had five strikeouts and allowed one unearned run. Logan Chitwood earned his first save when he closed the door in the ninth.

The Bees were in no hurry at the plate on Friday night; the club walked nine times. Rashun Dixon walked twice and Max Muncy walked three times. Fabiaschi went 2-for-4 with two runs and Russell hit a triple for the second straight day.

A tough seven-game road trip awaits the Bees. The club leaves the Hive to face Kane County for four games and Clinton for three. The Bees are 1-5 in Geneva and 4-3 in Clinton.

Tanner Peters (2-4) gets the start in game one of the four-game set with the Cougars. The first pitch of Saturday's game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. For more information on Bees baseball call (319) 754-5705 or visit www.gobees.com.
