Long Island Ducks News Release

(York, Penn., Aug. 21, 2012) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 2-1 and 6-5 in a doubleheader on Tuesday night in the first two games of a four-game set at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

York took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of game one against Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann. Back-to-back two-out RBI doubles by Jeff Fiorentino and Liu Rodriguez did the damage. Long Island cut the deficit in half on Ray Navarrete's RBI single off Revolution starter Ryan Feierabend in the fourth, but the Flock could not pull even.

Feierabend (6-3) went the distance for the win, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four in seven innings. Zimmermann (5-8) suffered the loss, tossing six innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with one strikeout.

In game two, the Revolution again scored twice in the second on a bases loaded walk to Scott Grimes and a RBI fielder's choice from Brandon Haveman off Ducks starter Jino Gonzalez. Long Island would tie the game with single runs in the third and fourth off Revs starter Derrick Gordon on a RBI single by Reid Gorecki and a sac fly to right by Brandon Pinckney.

A two-run fifth inning for the Ducks gave them their first lead of the night, as Bryant Nelson laced a RBI single to right, and Matt Esquivel would score when the throw home was off line. However, York would grab four unearned runs in the bottom of the frame on a run-scoring error and a three-run single to right by Chris Nowak to take a 6-4 lead. Dan Lyons lifted a RBI ground-rule double to right in the sixth, but it wasn't enough.

Adam Thomas (6-2) got the win despite allowing two runs on three hits in one inning of relief. Jeremy Hill (4-4) was saddled with the loss after allowing two unearned runs in two-thirds of an inning. Ricardo Gomez earned his ninth save with a scoreless seventh inning.
