Cubs at Threshers Postponed to Wednesday Doubleheader

The Daytona Cubs @ Clearwater Threshers game scheduled for Tuesday, August 21st at 7:00p.m. at Bright House Field has been postponed due to rain. The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Wednesday, August 22nd, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 5:00p.m. This is the first game postponed at Bright House Field this season.

The rainout continuous this menacing and frustrating trend of Daytona Cubs game being affected by weather. Over the last 13 games, Daytona has been delayed twice, postponed five times, played two doubleheaders and cancelled four games (all at home), with just two of the 13 played as regularly scheduled nine-inning contests.

On Saturday, August 19th, the Cubs and Tampa Yankees were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but played only one inning before storms prohibited play for the rest of the evening. Daytona had a 1-0 lead after the completed inning. The Daytona Cubs announced, Tuesday, that the two teams, who are scheduled to meet for a three-game, two-day series beginning on Friday, August 24th, will play the suspended game from 8/19 on Friday 8/24 as a part of a doubleheader beginning at 3:00p.m., and then play a doubleheader on Saturday, August 25th, with first pitch of game one scheduled for 5:00p.m. The series is two days because the game originally scheduled for Sunday, August 26th at George M. Steinbrenner Field was moved to a doubleheader due to the Republican National Convention in Tampa. Game two of the doubleheader scheduled for 8/19 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark has been canceled and will not be made up.
