Royals Sign Forward Tyler Gron

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Tyler Gron. A first year pro from Spruce Grove, Alberta, Gron (5'11/201) (22) is the ninth player announced as signed by the Royals for the 2012-13 season, joining forwards Ethan Cox, Chris Langkow, Trevor Lewis, Ian O'Connor, Yannick Tifu and defensemen Derrick LaPoint, Bryant Molle and Denny Urban

Last season, Gron led Northern Michigan University with thirty-seven points (17g-20a) in thirty-five games in his senior season with the Wildcats. Gron, who was selected to the All-Central Collegiate Hockey Association First Team, joined the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL at the conclusion of his final collegiate season. Gron picked up his first pro point-an assist-in three AHL games during that stint. Gron, who was selected as the RBC Financial CCHA Player of the Month in December of last season, also led the Wildcats in scoring during his junior season, after which he was chosen for the All-MichiganCollegeHockey.com second team. In 140 total college games at NMU, Gron racked up ninety-seven points (48g-49a) and 115 penalty minutes.
