Zephyrs Hammer Four Home Runs in Win

TACOMA, Washington - The New Orleans Zephyrs hammered four home runs and defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 9-4 to snap a four game losing streak.

Luke Montz led the attack with two home runs in the game. The Zephyrs scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. In the fifth the Zephyrs hit three home runs. Chris Coghlan led off the inning to tie the game at four. Montz followed up with a two run homer to give the Z's the lead. Chris Aguila added a home run in the inning. The three homers in an inning is a season high

New Orleans starter Omar Poveda won his third consecutive start to improve his record to 3-1. Poveda pitched five and two thirds innings allowed four runs on five hits. Tacoma starter Steve Garrison suffered the defeat.

The Rainiers and Zephyrs combined for seven home runs in the game.

The Zephyrs picked up a game in the standings and trail first place Albuquerque by four games with 27 to play.
