Missions Defeat Frisco 12-4 In Series Finale

San Antonio Missions News Release
San Antonio - The San Antonio Missions used two home runs in the first two innings to propel themselves to a 12-4 victory over the RoughRiders in the fourth and final game of their series Monday night at Wolff Stadium. With the win San Antonio took three of four from the RoughRiders as they improve to 52-62 overall and 24-20 in the second half.
After Jared Hoying got things going early for Frisco with a two-run blast in the first off Missions starter Eddie Kunz, San Antonio responded immediately. After Reymond Fuentes led off the Missions half of the frame with a single, Nate Freiman hit his team-leading 23rd home run of the season which tied the game at 2-2.
The next inning Jonathan Galvez lined a Neil Ramirez pitch over the wall in left with two on and two out to put San Antonio up 5-2. They tacked on another run an inning later on Jeudy Valdez's sacrifice fly that plated Rymer Liriano.
After the teams exchanged runs over the next inning and a half, the Missions put the game away with four runs in the seventh as they sent eight batters to the plate.
Kunz, making his sixth start of the, earned his third win of the season as he allowed three earned runs on four hits in a season-high six and one-third innings.
After a league-wide off-day tomorrow, the Missions will resume their home stand on Wednesday with a three-game series against the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals). Richard Castillo (6-4, 3.84 ERA) will go for Springfield and fellow right-hander Matt Jackson (1-0, 4.30 ERA) starts for San Antonio.
