Dominic Ramos started the scoring with his second leadoff home run (9) of the season in the bottom of the first to put the Skeeters ahead, 1-0, off lefty starter Jon Kibler.

One half-inning later, the Patriots tied it at 1-1 thanks to a leadoff triple in the second from Jake Fox and an RBI single by Jesse Hoorelbeke off starter Kelvin Villa.

In the top of the third, Jeff Nettles cleared the bases with a two-out RBI double sending Somerset into the lead, 4-1. However, the Skeeters responded in kind in the bottom half of the inning. Jason Lane walked with two outs and one batter later, Josh Pressley tallied his 12th home run of the season with a deep shot to left-center field to cut the deficit to one, 4-3.

Somerset made their first pitching change in the bottom of the fourth bringing in Carlton Smith after Kibler worked just three innings giving up three earned runs off four hits. Iggy Suarez led off the inning with his fifth home run of the season off Smith toward left to tie the game, 4-4.

Sugar Land kept Somerset off the board in the top of the fifth thanks to a great double play turned by Amadeo Zazueta and Ramos. In the bottom half of the inning, the Skeeters put Villa in position for a chance to pick up his first win as a starter compliments of Lane's solo home run (7) with one out off Smith, 5-4, before Saul Rivera replaced the lefty.

Rivera threw one and two thirds innings leaving a runner stranded on second for Garrett Parcell in the seventh inning. With two outs in the inning, Jake Fox lifted the Patriots into the lead with a two-run homer (6) into left. Jesse Hoorelbeke grounded out to end the inning leaving the Patriots with a 6-5 lead.

Brandon Braboy replaced Smith in the seventh inning to pitch to the top of the order, and with two outs already gone, Lane smacked his second home run (8) of the game over the left-center field wall to tie the game at six runs each.

Will Startup (3-2) came in to record the final two outs of the eighth, but in the ninth, Somerset took the lead. Joe Holden reached on a leadoff single and quickly scored the go-ahead run on a Sanchez RBI single to take the 7-6 lead. One batter later, Fox knocked his second home run (7) of the game off Startup to push the lead up to three, 9-6. Somerset plated one more insurance run to push the score up to 10-6 before the Skeeters came to bat in the bottom of the ninth.

Andrew Dobies came in to pitch in the ninth with the bases loaded and one out in the inning. In his fifth at-bat and a chance to tie the game with one swing, Lane struck out for the second out: Amadeo Zazueta had reached on a one-out double, Ramos on a hit-by-pitch and Castro on an error from the shortstop. Now with two outs, Pressley struck out to end the game reaching for a slider.
