Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

On the night of the 34th sellout of the season, the Blue Wahoos welcomed home Corporal Daniel Palmer of the USMC. Palmer, a Milton native, was wounded in Afghanistan back in 2010. He returned home on Friday after spending the last year recovering from his injuries. He threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game and jars of peanut butter were collected in his honor to benefit Manna Food Pantry.

It was also Halloween in July and many fans dressed up in costume and participated in the pregame parade and costume contest.

In a special ceremony after the game fans got to see the premiere of a new Pensacola themed music video, "Build It Up," commissioned by Blue Wahoos owners Quint and Rishy Studer. The video celebrates the progress and momentum of the City of Pensacola. A website was launched simultaneously with the premiere. Then the night was capped off with another breath-taking fireworks show presented by Budweiser.

The game provided plenty of excitement as well. The Blue Wahoos stole a season-high five bases in the game on their way to a 6-4 win over the Huntsville Stars to close out the homestand. Billy Hamilton added two more stolen bases to his total giving him 115 for the season and leaving him just 30 stolen bases shy of Vince Coleman's 1983 record.

After an off day on Sunday, the Blue Wahoos will hit the road for Tennessee and Huntsville for 10 games. Monday will open the trip with a doubleheader against the Tennessee Smokies beginning at 4:30 p.m. from Smokies Park. You can catch all the action of the road trip on 1450 ESPN Pensacola and online at BlueWahoos.com.
