Zephyrs Split with Nashville in a 7-4 Victory on Monday Night

New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Kevin Mattison's two-run double highlighted a five-run eighth inning rally for the New Orleans Zephyrs, overcoming a big night by Nashville's Sean Halton and leading the Z's to a 7-4 victory on Monday night at Zephyr Field.
New Orleans won for just the second time in 42 games when trailing after seven innings.
Trailing 4-2 in the eighth, the Zephyrs batted around after Chris Coghlan led off with a walk. With two outs, Gaby Sanchez doubled down the right field line against Nashville reliever Tim Dillard, and Nick Green plated them both with a single up the middle to tie the game.
Donnie Murphy walked and Luke Montz loaded the bases with a single to third base. Mattison then laced a double to right-center, giving New Orleans a 6-4 lead. Gil Velazquez was hit by a pitch before Coghlan, batting for the second time in the inning, drew a walk with bases loaded to expand the lead to 7-4.
The Zephyrs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Mattison hit his 10th home run of the year, and second in as many days.
Nashville quickly tied the score in the top of the second with a lead off homer from Sean Halton.
New Orleans regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth with another lead off home run to left field, this time by Mike Cervenak, to lift the Z's 2-1.
The Sounds again answered, this time grabbing the lead on Halton's second home run of the night, a two-run shot that followed a leadoff walk to Eric Farris. Halton now has 11 home runs this season five of which have come against New Orleans.
Nashville extended the lead in the sixth when Jordan Brown led off with a double off the right-center wall, and scored with two out after Logan Schafer laced a double into left-center field.
Mattison led the Z's offense, going 3-for-5 with run scored and three RBI, a triple short of the cycle.
Ryan Webb (1-0) earned his first win with the Zephyrs, allowing one hit over two innings of relief.
Chris Hatcher worked a scoreless ninth to notch his seventh save.
Dillard (0-1) took the loss for Nashville, giving up four hits and four runs with two walks while only recording one out.
