New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
NEW BRITAIN, Conn - On a night when Sean Ochinko went 3-4 with a three-run homer, a Jake Marisnick RBI single in the top of the ninth lifted the Fisher Cats (38-59) to a 6-5 win over the New Britain Rock Cats (53-43) on Tuesday night.
Marisnick's base hit salvaged a win after the bullpen squandered a three-run lead in the bottom of the eighth. Leading 5-2, a pair of singles knocked reliever Matt Daly out of the game. Les Walrond came on and issued a pair of walks and an RBI groundout to plate two runs and cut the lead to 5-4. A wild pitch by Ronald Uviedo brought home the third run of the inning, erasing the lead and putting the Fisher Cats into a 5-5 tie.
That's when Marisnick struck in the top of the ninth. With one out, John Tolisano doubled off the right-center field wall. Marisnick stepped up and drilled a single to center to score Tolisano and put the Fisher Cats ahead, 6-5.
Marisnick finished the game 2-4, extending his hitting streak to four multi-hit games. Ochinko, however, had the best night of all. He singled in the fourth to snap a 15 at-bat hitless streak. With the teams tied at 2-2 in the sixth, he launched a three-run homer to left to put New Hampshire on top 5-2. He added a third hit in the eighth to finish the night 3-4 with his fifth home run.
Mike McDade added his 15th home run for the Fisher Cats, who pounded out 12 hits in the win. Eight of nine players in the line-up had a hit, including Ryan Goins, who put the Fisher Cats up early with first-inning sac fly to score Marisnick.
John Stilson took a no-decision for the Fisher Cats, allowing just two runs over five solid innings.
The series and the nine-game road trip come to an end on Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 PM. RHP Deck McGuire (4-9, 5.90) takes to the hill against New Britain RHP David Bromberg (1-1, 3.57). Radio coverage begins at 11:45 AM with Tom Gauthier on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
The Fisher Cats return on for a four-game series with the Sea Dogs on Thursday, July 19 at 7:05 PM. The series features three nights of Atlas Fireworks and a Glow-in-the-Dark Baseball Giveaway on Sunday, July 22. For tickets and the full list of promotions, visit www.nhfishercats.com.
