Schoop Homers Again, But Baysox Come up Short

Erie, PA - Jonathan Schoop hit a home run for the third straight game, but the Bowie Baysox (47-48) fell to the Erie SeaWolves (45-51) 7-2 on Tuesday night.

The SeaWolves got off to the quick start when they struck for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The first four batters of the inning all reached base and all scored as the SeaWolves had four extra base hits in the first and took the early 4-0 lead.

Nick Castellanos added to the SeaWolves lead with his second home run in as many nights to makes the score 5-0.

The Baysox got on the board in the sixth inning. Antoan Richardson led off with a single and then Jonathan Schoop hit his 12th home run of the season to cut the lead to 5-2.

In the eighth, the SeaWolves added two more runs on an RBI groundout by James McCann and an RBI single by Niuman Romero to make the score 7-2.

Jared Wesson got the win going six innings and allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

Mike Wright picked up the loss. He threw the first three innings and allowed five runs on seven hits with one strikeout and one walk.

The Baysox will wrap up their seven-game road trip tomorrow at 12:05 p.m with RHP Eddie Gamboa (3-1, 2.91) making the start against RHP Patrick Cooper (2-3, 4.53).

The Baysox are currently on a seven-game road trip. All of the games can be heard on www.baysox.com . They will return home on Thursday, July 19 for a seven-game homestand that begins with four games against the Binghamton Mets.
