Tucson Padres News Release

The Fresno Grizzlies scored four runs in the fourth inning and took the lead to stay in their 8-5 win over the Tucson Padres Friday night at Kino Stadium. Ryan Lollis and Nick Noonan hit back-to-back, two-out, two-run doubles in the fourth inning rally against former Fresno pitcher Matt Palmer, who allowed four earned runs in six innings of work. Fresno starter Yusmeiro Petit allowed only two earned runs in seven innings of work, collecting his fourth victory of the season.

The Padres trailed by five runs in the eighth and had a chance to catch Fresno, loading the bases with none out. Jedd Gyorko hit an RBI single and Vince Belnome grounded into a double play to score the second run of the inning, but the T-Pads had to settle for two runs. Nick Vincent and Jason Ray both pitched scoreless innings out of the Tucson bullpen.

The Padres and Grizzlies have split the 10 games they've played against each other this season. Jeremy Hermida and Belnome both went 2-for-4 in the loss. Gyorko went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk and Matt Clark went 1-for-4 with a two-run single.
